Modern wars are colonial wars. It’s about power and the control of resources and cheap labour for profit.

Palestine is a strategic location in the Middle East with great Gas Fields in the sea. Gas is a crucial energy source. The artwork features a frame of watermelon and olive leaves which are symbols of freedom and resilience, as well as the olive tree which grows from the charger that symbolizes the need of the modern world for cheap energy.

In Congo many of the crucial metals are mined that are used in batteries for smart phones and other electronically devices. The conditions for the workers are inhumane and slave like. The artwork features a frame of azobé or iron wood tree which is a symbol of sturdiness and strength. A cassava tree which is an important crop grow from a smart phone battery.

The war in Sudan is not a civil war. It is about power an resources. Sudan exports for example rubber as well as gold which is also used in smart phones. The hibiscus tree that grows from the phone is a symbol of the Sudanese revolution. It is framed by peanut plants which is an important crop in Sudan.
